Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common pregnancy questions

How does the pregnancy calculator work?
The calculator uses Naegele's Rule, the globally accepted medical standard: it adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period to get the expected due date. This is the same method used by doctors and obstetricians worldwide.
Is the pregnancy calculator accurate?
The calculator is mathematically accurate according to established medical standards. However, the due date is a statistical estimate — only 5% of babies are born on their exact due date. Most births occur between weeks 38 and 42. A first-trimester ultrasound (weeks 8–12) is the most accurate way to confirm your due date.
How are pregnancy weeks counted?
Pregnancy weeks are always counted from the first day of your last menstrual period, not from the date of conception. A full-term pregnancy is 40 weeks (280 days). For example: if your last period started 7 weeks ago, you are in the 7th week of pregnancy.
When should I see a doctor to confirm my due date?
Book your first appointment with your doctor as soon as you confirm your pregnancy. The first ultrasound is usually done between weeks 8 and 12 and is the most accurate for determining your due date. Remember, our calculator is a guide only and doesn't replace regular medical care.
What's the difference between Gregorian and Hijri calculation?
Medical calculations use the Gregorian solar calendar. The Hijri calendar is lunar with shorter months (~29.5 days). Our calculator automatically converts Hijri dates to Gregorian for accurate medical calculation.
